That's A Wrap: Black History Month

That's A Wrap: Black History Month

As we move into the festive season, Sweet Dee's Jerk would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who selected us to cater their events throughout the month of October in celebration of Black History Month.

Black TechFest: 23

Starting back in 2020, Black Tech Fest is Europe`s largest event of its kind, a three-day festival to celebrate Black culture, showcase innovation and create pathways for underrepresented talent. Black Tech Fest exists to inspire and create space for powerful conversations around technology, inclusion and innovation.

Bringing pure vibes always, Sweet Dee's Jerk was one of the many fantastic food vendors serving up endless deliciousness at the event!

Sony Music 'THE MUSIC THAT MADE ME

As we honour Black History Month this year, we also celebrate the impact of 50 years of hip-hop and the culture that is intertwined with it. Sony Music has contributed to commemorating this monumental occasion with a special event dedicated to showcasing the records that have defined generations.

The event features guest speakers such as Avelino, D Double E, ENNY, and Shauni Caballero, hosted by Sayynadaa, alongside an experimental exhibition. The experience is further enhanced by DJs and food offerings, including our Mini beef and vegetable patties, as well as callaloo vol-au-vent canapés, and much more.

'THE KITCHEN' FILM LAUNCH

Our friends at Studio Dream invited Sweet Dee's Jerk to cater for a star studed affair. Supported by the British Film Institute, the SDJ team created a tasting movie of our own to serve up at the highly anticipated premier of British filmmakers Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya's film 'The Kitchen'. Starring Kane 'Kano' Robinson, Jedaiah Bannerman, Hope Ikpoku Jr, Teija Kabs, Demmy Ladipo, Cristale and BackRoad Gee. The film explores themes of community, inequality, family, resilience, defiance and care in a dystopian London.

Our signature Jerk Chicken & Chickpea Curry bowls brought flavours all night long, keeping some very special guest and supporters fed at the afterparty. It was yet again, an honour to be part and catering for such a grand event. The Kitchen release into UK cinemas and following the launch on Netflix, in 2024. Whilst you wait for this release, you can always visit our kitchen in the Selfridges FoodHall to get some of that great new age Caribbean cuisine.

CARIBBEAN LUNCHTIME

Finally, we like to show our appreciation those that have brought us back and a little Caribbean flavour to their lunchtimes. We've graced the canteens and stall areas of Amazon, Deloitte, UBS, KFC and Pokemon serving up hearty meals to keep you going for the rest of the working day.

The Sweet Dee's Jerk team are available for catering events, big or small, corporate or private, with a menu tailored to fit everyones preference. Feel free to drop us a line and we'll be happy to assist you.
